happy tibetan new year! welcome to the year of the earth ox.

a new shambhala news magazine launched with the new shambhala year, add that RSS feed to your news reader if you’d like to keep up with shambhala things.

i’ve adopted the shambhala ritual of throwing the iching each new years. my divination for this year is “difficult beginnings” changing into “benefit”. though the changing line basically told me to “start over” because i had lost perspective? hmm… could be. i’m not sure i really get anything from these little superstitions. but it’s entertaining.

i also asked the iching if i should launch my shambhala terminology site tanjur.org formally as an offering and the iching served up the advice to wait and to ask those in some sense of authority how i could best serve their goals; interesting response, mr. iching. i envision the site as a kind of collaborative study and reference tool for teachers, and i have only gotten encouragement from senior teachers that i’ve discussed it with, but it is edgy territory to attempt to provide a service that is so close to the core of what shambhala is about - teaching dharma. so i’m asking more senior teachers now for feedback and what they’d like to see happen with a site like that.
