my fever spiked up to 101.5 again this morning. sigh. four days of fever has been really good practice though in watching my mind. i’m resting in discomfort and nothing helps. normally if i was bored or frustrated i would just do something, but without that outlet i just have to sit and watch my mind.
it’s so much easier in this situation to see the subtle struggle with the situation or grasping for entertainment or clutching to any idea of relief, like even a single full, clear breath. so from the point of view of learning more about how mind works, or developing awareness of the subtle struggle with experience that occurs, this flu has been fantastic. Too bad once I’m better, I’ll most likely forget what a good lesson that was, but maybe not.
